The Archbishop Bergan Knights defeated Lincoln Lutheran, in high school football, Thursday night at Heedum Field, 45-25.  Koa McIntyre threw four touchdowns, ran for a score, plus intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.  Kade McIntyre and Gavin Logemann caught two touchdowns, each.  Bergan is 3-0, while Lincoln Lutheran is 2-1.  The Warriors host Sutton, next Friday.  Bergan will host Omaha Concordia, next Friday night.
The Fremont High golf team finished second in the LSE Invite at Highlands Golf Course, Thursday.  Fremont shot 367.  Elkhorn North was first at 310.  Emily Karmizin of Elkhorn North was the meet medalist with a 69.  Ansley Giesselmann of Fremont took seventh at 82 and Emily Benson was tenth, for the Tigers, at 88.
The Fremont High boys tennis team hosted Lincoln East, Thursday, at the Fremont High tennis courts, and lost 9-0.
Fremont High hosted the Fremont XCC Invite at Valley View Golf Course, Thursday.  In boys’ action, Fremont was first with 28 points.  Elkhorn South was second at 86.  Gabe Hinrichs of Elkhorn South was first in 15:26.61.  Carter Waters and Braden Taylor finished 2-3.  Nolan Miller and Aaron Ladd finished 6-7.  Juan Gonzalez, Tyson Baker, Domingo Perez Ramos and Junior Garcia finished 10-11-12-13.
In girls action, Fremont was first with 22 points.  Elkhorn South was second with 41.  Elli Dahl was first in 18:44.63.  Lucy Dillon and Maris Dahl finished 2-3.  Mia Wagner was sixth.  Avry LaFavor was ninth.
The Fremont High softball team swept Lincoln High in a doubleheader at Chaplain’s Field, 11-1 and 12-0.  Fremont is 13-4 on the season.
The Bergan girls golf team played in the Columbus Lakeview Invite at Quail Run, Thursday.  Bergan finished fourth, shooting 395.  Grand Island Northwest was first at 364.  Cecilia Arndt of Columbus Scotus was the meet medalist at 73.  Bergan’s Jocelyn Kumm tied for fifth with an 87.
 
 
The Bergan XCC teams hosted the Joe Wojtkiewicz Invite, Thursday at Camp Calvin Crest.  In boys action, Bergan finished second with 33 points.  Cornerstone Christian was first with six.  Justin Sherman of Cornerstone Christian was first at 19:11.  Bergan’s Carter DeMuth was eighth.  Brayden Fuchs and Nathan Fuchs finished 13th and 14th.  In girls’ action, Aquinas was first with nine points.  Gianna Frasher of Aquinas was first in 23:27.  Bergan’s Sophie O’Neill was 14th.
The Bergan volleyball team defeated Homer, at Gary D. Schmidt Gymnasium, Thursday night, three sets to none.  Bergan is now 6-3 on the season.

The Nebraska soccer team (4-3-0) fought hard, equaling Arizona State’s shots on goal, but came up short, 1-0, at Mulcahy Stadium on a hot Thursday afternoon.
The Huskers conclude their trip to Tucson on Sunday when they face Arizona, starting at 3 p.m. (CT).
 The Creighton women’s soccer team delivered its fourth consecutive shutout in a 2-0 win over North Dakota State on Thursday, Sept. 9.
With the win the Bluejays climbed to 5-1-1 on the season, while the Bison fell to 0-5-1.
The Bluejays conclude its five-game stretch against Summit League opponents on Sunday, Sept. 12 as Creighton faces the Roos in Kansas City at 2:00 pm.
Omaha men’s soccer played to a scoreless draw Thursday night breaking a three-game losing streak. Jeremy Pollard made a season-high five saves between the pipes earning the shutout vs. UC Irvine, 0-0.
With the draw, Omaha is 0-3-1 on the year.
The Mavericks wrap up their California trip with a match at CSUN on Sunday, Sept. 12. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.

Left-hander Marcelo Martinez tossed a career-best 6.2 innings with seven strikeouts to help the Omaha Storm Chasers top the St. Paul Saints, 4-2, on Thursday at CHS Field. Designated hitter Bobby Witt Jr., third baseman MJ Melendez, and second baseman Angelo Castellano each hit a solo home run while right-hander Dylan Coleman retired all five batters he faced to close the game.
The Storm Chasers continue their six-game series against the St. Paul Saints (MIN) at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minn. on Friday, when left-hander Foster Griffin (0-0, 4.11) faces St. Paul left-hander Charlie Barnes (6-3, 3.93). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m
