Stormchasers and Saltdogs earn wins

First baseman Ryan McBroom and third baseman MJ Melendez hit back-to-back home runs in a four-run sixth inning to propel the Omaha Storm Chasers to a 9-3, series-opening win over Toledo on Tuesday at Werner Park. It was the sixth straight win for Omaha (58-44) and the team’s ninth win in the last 10 games. With the win, the Storm Chasers now trail Toledo (59-43) by 1.0 game in the Triple-A East Midwest Division standings.
The Storm Chasers continue their series against the Toledo Mud Hens on Wednesday with a doubleheader, with left-hander Jake Kalish (2-4, 7.11) slated to start Game 1 for Omaha and right-hander Brandon Barker scheduled to start Game 2. First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 4:35 p.m.

Josh Altmann scored on Ryan Long’s 11th inning sacrifice fly moments after Altmann became Lincoln’s first-ever 20-homer, 20-steal player, and the Saltdogs walked-off the Milkmen 9-8 for the franchise’s 1000th win on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park.
