The Dodge County Fair offers a mix of entertainment for children and adults.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Scribner. Fair board president Lisa Schole said everyone is excited for a full slate of activities, including Kids’ Day.
“That is always a big hit so Saturday is always a huge day for us,” she said. “We put in a lot of time and effort to get activities for the kids. If you can only make it to Scribner for one day, I would highly encourage you to come Saturday, bring your kids and hang out.”
The River City Carnival is popular for children and adults alike. It will be open Friday through Sunday. Houston Moseman, fair manager, said discounted tickets can be purchased for $20 until Thursday. Each ticket is good for one day of unlimited riding during the fair.
Ticket locations include: Dodge County Extension Office in Fremont, Platte Valley Bank in North Bend, Casey’s in North Bend, Snyder Mini Mart, First Northeast Bank of Nebraska branches in Hooper and Uehling, Uehling Gas N Go, Lee’s Mark in Scribner and the Scribner Bank.
Carnival tickets will be $30 when purchased during the fair.
Moseman said one of many popular events is the MATTPA Truck and Tractor Pull set for 7 Thursday night. Tickets are $10 for ages 11 and older.
“A little bit of a special thing that night is if you are a veteran or military member and you bring your ID, you’ll get into the tractor pull for free,” he said.
Craig Morgan will headline the concert at 7 Friday night. The Jason Earl Band will open and local artist Dylan Bloom will also perform. The Silver Moon Band will perform in the beer garden following the concert.
Schole said tickets are $25 for the show headlined by the singer of “Redneck Yacht Club.” She said they are available at Outhousetickets.com.
The Demolition Derby and Tough Trucks competition is scheduled for 7 Saturday night. Tickets are $10 with gates opening at 6.
“I will tell you that by 5:30 the lines will be fairly long,” Schole said. “If we’ve got our ducks in a row, we try to get people headed in. We have a lot of people registered so it will be a good show.”
The annual pancake feed is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday in the Mohr Auditorium.
Karna Dam, Dodge County 4-H youth extension educator, said that event is the primary fundraiser for 4-H.
“We don’t go around, we don’t sell things throughout the year,” she said. “We don’t ask people for things. We do a pancake feed. Last year (due to COVID-19) we weren’t able to do that so we really hope that this year people come out and support the 4-H pancake feed. We also have a silent auction during the fair. Those are our two fundraisers.”
The parade is also set for 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the theme, “Blue Jeans & Country Dreams.”
Fair information can be found at: www.dodgecountyfair.org. Dam said an app is also available with all the information.
“If you just go to your app store and type in Dodge County Fair, it will pop up,” she said. “It has the daily schedule and the location of where everything is. … It has all kinds of information, including the fairbook so it is kind of a handy little resource.”
