FPS board to consider bond resolution

The Fremont Public Schools Board of Education will consider a resolution tonight to approve a $123 million bond issue for a special election later this year.

The regular board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The proposed bond would be the richest in FPS history but it will not force the district to raise its levy, FPS Associate Superintendent Brad Dahl told Walnut Media. Dahl said old debt is rolling off from previous bond issues. The term of the bond will be set at 25 years.

The bond issue would allow replacements for Clarmar, Howard and Washington Elementary schools. It would also clear the way for a $28.4 million remodel of Fremont High and an $11 million addition to Johnson Crossing Academic Center.

Pending a successful board vote, it then be submitted to Dodge County Clerk Fred Mytty for certification on July 26 — 50 days prior to a special election that would be set for Sept. 14.
