FPS requests feedback on plan

Fremont Public Schools invites the community to participate in a survey to gather input regarding the district’s return to in-person instruction plan.

“As part of the Federal ESSERS III Assurances and in order for school districts to qualify for the funding, the district is required to make publicly available (on the district’s website) our plan for safe return to in-person instruction and provide an opportunity for public input,” FPS Associate Superintendent Brad Dahl said.

FPS is currently allocated $7.7 million in ESSERS III funding. Twenty percent of the funds must be used to address student learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The draft of the plan was published on the district’s website on Tuesday. It provides a general overview of the proposal to return to the classroom in August.

The district will not require facemasks this fall, but encourages those who have not been vaccinated to continue to wear masks. That could change if COVID-19 cases increase, according to the draft.

The draft also states that the district will practice social distancing to the greatest extent possible when classes resume.

FPS will also continue to monitor information regarding vaccinations and provide updates to staff, students and parents throughout the year.

The plan and survey can be found online at: https://fremonttigers.org/return-to-school-2021/
The survey started Thursday and will run until 11:59 p.m. July 16.
