Fireworks celebration set for Saturday night

Organizer Ron Vlach promises a “twist” to Fremont’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show that is scheduled for 10 Saturday night.

“We’re going to try something a little different,” said Vlach of Victory Marine. “A couple of years ago we tried a shell that we hauled in from Missouri and it rained that afternoon. It didn’t go off quite the way (we planned). It would’ve been spectacular, but this year we’re going to change the end of the show a little bit. It is pretty much going to be the same, but at the end it should be a surprise.”

The show, which is scheduled for 20 to 21 minutes, will go off from the Fremont Airport.

“Hopefully the weather will cooperate,” Vlach said. “The long-range forecast looks good so everyone needs to grab their lawn chairs and we hope to make it even bigger and better than we did last year.”

Vic Rader assists Vlach with the coordination of the program. Numerous sponsors also help support the annual event.

“We’ve had the same group of sponsors for years,” Vlach said. “Without them, I couldn’t do this. We put on a huge show and people can see it from miles around.”

The Best Mix 105.5 will play music in coordination with the show.

“It will start at 10 p.m. sharp,” Vlach said.
