Keep Fremont Beautiful has recently received many calls about city code violations.
KFB Executive Director Casey Vaughan appreciates the calls, but notes that those questions should be directed to the city code enforcement office.
“I absolutely love when people are calling in asking questions about how to keep our community clean,” Vaughan said. “One of the frequent calls I’ve been getting is about lawns not getting mowed, exceeding the 12 inches according to the city ordinance. Also things like trash accumulating in yards, trash cans being open with litter falling out. Those questions should really be directed to that office.”
Vaughan understands why residents would call her office.
“I know Keep Fremont Beautiful sounds like the logical place to call, but it is really city code enforcement,” she said.
That office can be reached at the non-emergency police line of 402-727-2677.
“A report is filed and then they will send an officer out,” Vaughan said.
KFB is preparing for the metal and electronic recycling event that is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 25 in Ilgenfritz parking lot at Fourth and Park streets.
“We’ll be accepting any metal scraps and electronics that are usable or not usable anymore,” Vaughan said.
Nye Health will be hosting a community paper shred in September (date and time to be determined). From 8:30 to noon on Oct. 9 at Christensen Field will be the household hazardous waste event.
