Local Sports Today With Rich Ray – May 3

FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports scores from over the weekend with your sports guide, Rich Ray:

High School Sports

Bergan Baseball beat Lincoln North Star, 4-3, lost to Elkhorn South, 17-6 and beat Grand Island- 16-9.  Bergan is 14-6 on the season.
The Bergan boys golf team was third in the Arlington Invite, Friday, at the Fremont Golf Club, shooting a 348.  Yutan was first at 333.  Bergan’s Brady Davis was the meet medalist, shooting a 72.
The Fremont High boys soccer team defeated Omaha North, 11-1 in the A-3 District Tournament, at Christensen Field, Saturday.  Fremont play at Gretna tomorrow night at 7pm.
The Fremont High girls soccer team lost to North Platte, Saturday, in the A-4 District Tournament, 3-0.  Fremont ends the year, 4-12.
The Bergan girls and boys track & field team competed in the Centennial Conference meet, Saturday, in Columbus.  In boys action, Bergan was fourth with 57.3 points.  Aquinas Catholic won the meet with 117.6 points.  Kaitlyn Mlnarik won the 800 in 2:27.44.  Koa McIntyre won the 100 in 11.15.

Collegiate Sports

The Nebraska softball team completed a four-game sweep of Maryland with an 8-0 five-inning victory in the series finale Sunday in the final home game of the season at Bowlin Stadium. With its home schedule complete, Nebraska travels to Iowa for a four-game series next weekend.

Omaha Beef

The Omaha Beef picked up it’s first road win with a 41-37 victory at Sioux City, versus the Bandits.  Omaha is 2-2 on the season and plays at the Wyoming Mustangs, Saturday night at 6:30.
