DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – Midland University took to the links one more time in 2021 as they wrapped up play at the 2020-21 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Golf Championships on Tuesday. The Warriors had a pair of golfers in the top ten individually while placing third as a team.
Peyton Koch and Preston Carbaugh led the team, finishing third and eighth respectively. Both garnered All-GPAC Honors by placing in the top ten.
Koch, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, had rounds of 72 and 74 in the spring half of the championship. He made a jump from sixth over the final 36 holes. He shot a combined 295 (7-over).
Carbaugh, a sophomore from Cambridge, Nebraska, was six-over-par this spring shooting a 76 on Monday and a 74 on Tuesday. He made moved up one position after the rounds in the fall. His final score was 301 (13-over).
Rounding out the Midland lineup individually were Jordan Greenwood (22nd, 319) and Kean Kontor (32nd, 329). Ryan Rogers shot rounds of 76 and 74 this spring but wasn’t eligible individually as he only played three of the four total rounds.
Morningside College shot a final round 298 and had a 72-hole total of 1170 to win the GPAC Championship. Individually, Jonny Douglas from Morningside claimed medalist honors with a four-round total of 290. Douglas shot a 74 for the final 18 holes.
The top-ten golfers are automatically GPAC All-Conference. Five additional golfers will be named All-Conference after a vote of the league coaches.
