Local Sports Today with Rich Ray – April 28

FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today with Rich Ray:

High School Sports

In girls high school tennis, Tuesday, Lincoln East defeated Fremont, 8-1. In a separate matchup, Elkhorn defeated Blair, 9-0.
In girls high school soccer, Norfolk defeated Fremont, 1-0 and, Elkhorn defeated Blair, 2-1 in overtime. On the boys’ field, Blair downed Elkhorn, 5-1.
In golf action, the Bergan Knights finished fifth in the Columbus Scotus Invite at Elks Country Club, Tuesday, shooting a 369.  Columbus Scotus was first at 335.  Brady Davis led the Knights, placing seventh with an 83.  Jake Hagerbaumer of Logan View was the meet medalists, firing a 76.
The Bergan girls and boys track and field teams competed in the Wisner-Pilger Invite, Tuesday.  In boys’ action Bergan finished third with 89 points.  Wakefield was first with 124.  Owen Pruss won the pole vault at 9’6”.  Shea Gossett won the long jump at 19’ 10.5”.  Gossett also won the triple jump at 41’ 5.75.  In girls action, Bergan finished sixth with 36 points.  Wisner-Pilger was first with 105.  Kaitlyn Mlnarik won the 800 in 2:34.14.  Mlnarik also won the 1600 in 5:59.03.
The Bergan baseball team defeated Lincoln Northeast, 10-1. Tuesday, at Den Hartog Field.  Bergan is 12-5 on the season. In other high school baseball, Elkhorn North beat Blair, 5-2.

Midland U

Softball swept Morningside, Baseball split with the Bellevue Bruins, Midland took on Concordia on the tennis court and Volleyball earned a sweep of Rocky Mountain College. Get all the details from these games and more on our Midland Warrior Sports page.
