Man charged with assault, false imprisonment

An incident on Sunday night led to the arrest of a Fremont man.
 
Joseph D. Brainard, 35, of Fremont was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault at about 10:30 p.m. following a complaint at a residence in the 300 block of West 23rd Street. 
 
Brainard is accused of inflicting minor injury to an acquaintance. He is also charged with false imprisonment after he allegedly blocked an attempt by the victim to leave the residence.
 
On Saturday at 8:50 a.m., Kenneth E. Banks, 61, of Fremont was arrested on suspicion of trespassing following a complaint at a business in the 800 block of East 23rd Street. 
 
He is accused of loitering at the business after having been told he was not welcome there.
