FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University faced Simpson College in a non-conference men’s tennis dual on Saturday afternoon in Fremont at the FHS Tennis Courts. The Warriors made quick work of the Storm, sweeping doubles play and winning in straight sets during each singles matchup for a 7-0 victory.
Miguel Abete and Jeremy Attrill teamed up to win 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Abete won his singles match at No. 1s by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Attrill was idle in singles play.
Tycho Janssen and Luca Struffi won their No. 2s match 6-0. Janssen followed that up with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. Struffi kept his counterpart scoreless (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles.
Salvador Almeida and Nunzio Thiel won their No. 3 doubles match by a 6-0 score as well. Almeida continued the shutout into his No. 5 singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0. Thiel did the same at No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Conrad Mascarenhas made a return to the court at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.
Midland will be back in action on Sunday as they face the University of Nebraska-Omaha at 4:00 p.m.
