LINCOLN – The No. 46 Nebraska women’s tennis (6-2 Big Ten) team is set for back-to-back road contests at No. 8 Northwestern and Illinois this weekend.
The Huskers opened the 2021 season welcoming the Wildcats and the Fighting Illini to Lincoln when NU fell just short to Northwestern, 4-3 and bounced back to top Illinois, 5-2.
Fifth-year senior Claire Reifeis is coming off an outstanding weekend of singles play. The Indianapolis, Ind., native opened the weekend with a 7-6 (8), 6-4 win over Ohio State’s Kollie Allen, at the No. 3 spot. Reifeis then dominated her match against Karly Friedland of Penn State, winning 6-2, 6-1. She is on a three-match winning streak and holds a 2-1 record from the No. 3 spot.
The Huskers are coming off a 1-1 weekend in Lincoln. Last Friday, Nebraska dropped a hard-fought match to No. 10 Ohio State 5-2 but returned on Sunday to take down Penn State 4-2.
