Warriors’ Shotgun Resumes Season; Competes in Abbreviated Lindenwood Invite

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After a three-month hiatus, Midland University’s shotgun team resumed their season this past weekend when they competed in the Lindenwood Invitational. Unfortunately, the invitational was interrupted by a power outage in the surrounding area, so only two out of the four scheduled events were finished.
American Skeet and Doubles Skeet were the only events that were completed by all eight competing schools which included Concordia, Fort Hays State, Hannibal-LaGrange, Iowa Western, Missouri Science & Technology,  Missouri Valley, and host-school Lindenwood.
The Warriors did very well in the American Skeet event as they finished runners-up in the team standings with a score of 490, six points behind first-place Lindenwood. The Warriors team consisted of Dalton Wilcox, who led the Warriors in the event with a score of 100, Kaleb Scherer (99), Dino Manuel (97), Hunter Reinig (97), and Jace Garza (97).
In the Doubles Skeet event, the Warriors once again earned second place, finishing only one target behind first-place Lindenwood, 242 to 241. Midland’s team was made up by Derek Dishman (49/50), Dalton Wilcox (48/50), Kaleb Scherer (48/50), Dino Manuel (48/50), Canyon Ferris (48/50), and Kameron Martin (48/50).
The Warriors were on track to take control of the competition after a solid showing in the American Trap event, but due to unforeseen circumstances that caused a power outage at the range, the field was no longer suitable for play and no school or individual was awarded with a Highest Overall win.
Midland’s next competition will come this weekend at the Doane Tiger Invitational. The two-day tournament is set for March 6-7 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
