Local Sports Today with Rich Ray – February 23

FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today, with Rich Ray:


No. 22 Oklahoma used a five-run eighth inning to hold off a potential Maverick sweep, as UNO baseball fell 8-5 on Monday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman, Okla. The loss snaps a seven-game win streak for the Mavericks and drops Omaha to 1-1 on the season.


The Blair High boys basketball team began post-season play last night, picking up the win 48-34 over Schuyler.  With more, here’s Brian Abrahams:

The Creighton women’s basketball team will return to Omaha with three victories on its four-game road trip as the Bluejays fell at Marquette on Monday, Feb. 22, 65-41. The loss moved Creighton to 7-9 on the season and 6-6 in BIG EAST play, while Marquette moved to 16-4 overall and 13-3 in conference play.

The Nebraska men’s basketball team begins the final stretch of the regular season Tuesday night, as the Huskers will host the Penn State Nittany Lions at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tipoff between the Huskers and Nittany Lions is set for shortly after 7 p.m.
