Husker Update: Basketball, Volleyball, Track & Field

LINCOLN – Updates on Husker basketball, volleyball and track & field from the Huskers:

Basketball

The Nebraska men’s basketball program continues its brief two-game homestand on Friday night, as the Huskers host sixth-ranked Illinois at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tipoff between the Huskers and Fighting Illini is slated for 8:07 p.m. (central) and will be broadcast on Big Dog Country, 98.9 FM and 1340 AM with the Husker Sports Network.
Trailing by 17 points to visiting Iowa with just under five minutes left, the Nebraska women’s basketball team erupted on a 13-0 run in a span of just 2:36, but the Huskers could not complete the comeback in an 88-81 loss to the Hawkeyes on Thursday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Nebraska completes its two-game home stand on Sunday afternoon by playing host to No. 9 Maryland. Tip-off between the Huskers and Terrapins is set for 4 p.m.
 

Volleyball

The fourth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team heads to the East Coast for a pair of matinee matches at Rutgers this weekend. The two teams will square off at College Avenue Gym in New Brunswick at 3 p.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday.
 

Track & Field

The Nebraska track and field team splits up on the road this weekend at two different meets. Most of the Huskers will compete at the Hawkeye B1G Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Friday and Saturday. A group of 10 Huskers will also travel to the SPIRE Pre-Big Ten Meet in Geneva, Ohio this weekend. The SPIRE Institute is where the Big Ten Indoor Championships will be held on Feb. 25-27.
The Hawkeye B1G Invitational will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskers will be competing against Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin.
The SPIRE Pre-Big Ten Meet begins at 9 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
