LINCOLN – Here’s the latest news from Huskerland:

Football

Nebraska offensive coordinator Matt Lubick is one of many potential candidates for the open Montana State head coaching job, according to multiple reports. A source relayed the potential connection between Lubick and the job to the World-Herald on Wednesday afternoon.
Lubick just finished his first season at NU as coordinator and receivers coach. Montana State lost its head coach, Jeff Choate, to an assistant coaching job at Texas. The MSU job paid a little more than $200,000 last season, less than half of the $500,000 Lubick made at Nebraska in 2020.

Track & Field

A group of eight Nebraska track and field multi-event athletes will head to Champaign, Illinois for the Illini B1G Multi-Meet on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s events will begin at 1 p.m., while Saturday’s action will start at 10 a.m.
The Huskers will be competing against multi-event athletes from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin.
For the Nebraska men, Kolby HeineriksonZach Podraza and Cale Wagner will compete in the heptathlon. For the Husker women, Jamieson BattistellaJohanna IlvesKate KadrmasKerrigan Myers and Teri Zanker will participate in the pentathlon.

Volleyball

After a successful start to the 2020-21 season, the No. 5 Nebraska volleyball team will make its debut at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this weekend when the Northwestern Wildcats visit for matches on Friday and Saturday. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

The Nebraska women’s basketball team shoots for a Big Ten home win on Thursday night, when the Huskers clash with Wisconsin. Tip-off between the Big Red (8-5, 6-4 Big Ten) and the Badgers (3-10, 0-10 Big Ten) is set for 7 p.m. (CT) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
