DODGE COUNTY – The 19-year-old teen that is accused of brutally killing his 4-month-old cousin has been charged with first-degree murder.
Alexander Hernandez was arrested on January 9, 2021, after Fremont Police responded to calls of an unconscious child in a home on Missouri Avenue in Fremont. Arriving officers found out that the 4-month-old baby had been stabbed.
FPD learned that another resident in the home had seen the stabbing take place and wrestled the knife away from Hernandez before officers arrived. The baby was taken to Fremont Methodist Health where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Dodge County attorney filed charges against Hernandez for first-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and child abuse resulting in death.
Fremont Police have stated that Hernandez will not speak with investigators.
Hernandez’s first court appearance is Tuesday.
