FREMONT – A mobile trailer located in the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park at 5776 US-30, near the Fremont State Lakes, erupted into flames early Wednesday afternoon.
The Fremont Rural Volunteer Fire Department arrived at approximately 12:00 pm and were the first on the scene.
All four individuals in the home had evacuated before the FRFD’s arrival.
Fremont Rural’s Fire Chief, Carl Nielsen stated that they did call for Fremont Fire’s Rescue Squad to assist at the scene as he wanted to make sure they checked out one of the individuals for smoke inhalation, as the individual had gone back into the trailer a couple of times after the fire had started before FRFD’s arrival. Nielsen indicated that the individual was fine and none of the people that had been in the home were injured.
North Bend’s Fire Department assisted FRFD on the scene to contain the fire. Upon arrival, the mobile home was already completely engulfed in flames.
“We were able to contain the fire in about 20 minutes, but getting all of the hotspots out was difficult as the trailer basically toppled on top of itself,” said Nielsen.
An early investigation revealed that the fire began in the kitchen. Nielsen said the exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it was accidental. Exact damage estimates weren’t available, but the mobile home is considered a complete loss.
The fire departments finally left the scene at approximately 2:15 this afternoon.
