Warrior Lifters Win 16 Individual Titles at Collegiate Nationals

OAKS, Pa. – Midland University competed in the 2020 USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals for the fall season meet this past weekend to wrap up their fall schedule. The men’s team has six first-place finishes (one equipped and five raw) while the women’s team had 10 first-place finishes (six equipped and four raw).
Midland women’s team had a total of 15 lifters compete. Alexandra Lazarus and Mikaela Leibfried would walk away with wins being the only competitors in their weight classes. Lazarus finished with a total weight of 250 kg and Leibfried finished with a total weight of 362.5 kg.
In the 57 kg class, Jodel Patino would finish first and Luisa Soto placed second. Patino finished with a total weight of 487.5 kg and Soto finished with a total weight of 367.5 kg.
Skyleigh Sears won with a total weight of 462.5 kg in the 63 kg class.
Lacey Pender won the 72 kg class with a total weight of 445 kg.
To round out the equipped division, in the 84 kg class, Marissa Lutz won with a total weight of 522.5 kg and Geri Fredrickson placed second with a total weight of 470 kg.
For the raw division, Natali Dominguez won with a total weight of 300 kg in the 43 kg class.
Luisa Cruz won the 63 kg class with a total weight of 418 kg.
In the 72 kg class, Kloie Doublin won with a total weight of 488.5 kg and Ally Carraway would not place with only being able to finish two lifts.
Morgan Gilliam would finish second in the 84 kg class with a total weight of 390 kg.
Winning the 84+ kg class would be Makenna Henderson with a total weight of 485 kg.
The men’s team had a total of 10 lifters compete. In the equipped 105 kilogram class, Garrett Parkhill won the division with a total weight of 860 kg and in second place was Dalton Staller with a total of 630 kg.
In the raw 66 kg class, Henry Diers won with a total weight of 577.5 kg.
Shane Nutt won with a total weight of 740.5 kg in the 83 kg class.
For the 105 kg class, Matt Weisberg placed first with a total weight of 775 kg.
Carter Welch won the 120 kg class with a total weight of 767.5 kg.
Lastly in the 120+ kg class, Joseph Pena won with a total weight of 960 kg and Kevin Vuong finished fourth with a total weight of 695 kg.
Midland lifters will take a few months off from competing now. The Warriors will be back in action on   February 6, 20201 when they host the Central Collegiate Regionals in Fremont, Nebraska.
