FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today from the desk of Rich Ray:
Midland University men’s basketball picked up their first win of the season with a commanding 83-66 victory over Hastings College on Wednesday night. The Warriors won the battle of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) rivals thanks to a balanced scoring attack and solid defense down the stretch.
Midland University’s women’s basketball team hosted in-state foe Hastings College Broncos in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) game on Wednesday night winning 82-78. Midland has not beaten Hastings dating back to 2010 and head coach Shawn Gilbert would get his first win over Hastings.
Midland University capped off their men’s soccer regular season on Wednesday with a dominant 10-1 win at Presentation College. Midland outshot Presentation 19 to 6 over the 90 minutes and held a 5 to 3 advantage in corner kicks.
