Huskers
In another game between Nebraska and Northwestern that came down to the final play, Luke McCaffrey’s pass to the middle of the end zone intended for Wan’Dale Robinson fell incomplete to allow the Wildcats to escape with a 21-13 win over the Huskers at Ryan Field in Evanston, Ill., on Saturday afternoon.
Nebraska is scheduled to return to Big Ten action next Saturday by playing host to Penn State at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
Midland Warriors
Midland University Football – the defense set the tone early with a first-quarter score as the Warriors picked up a big Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) at Doane University on Saturday afternoon. Midland (5-3) limited the Tigers to just three points, winning 28-3 over their in-state rivals.
Midland (5-3) will be back in action one more time this fall as they host Concordia (4-3) next Saturday in Fremont, Nebraska. Kickoff between the Warriors and Bulldogs is set for 1:00 p.m. at Heedum Field. Prior to the game, the 2020 Senior Class will be recognized.
Midland University’s women’s soccer team got up early and never looked back as they claimed an impressive 8-1 win over College of Saint Mary in Saturday afternoon Great Plains Athletic Conference action.
Up next, Midland (4-3-3) will take to the pitch in Orange City, Iowa for a conference matchup with Northwestern College (4-6-1, 4-6 GPAC). Game time is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start. The Warriors are 11-3-2 all-time against the Red Raiders.
Midland University’s volleyball team made the short trip to the campus of College of Saint Mary for a Friday night Great Plains Athletic Conference battle. The Warriors were unable to claim the regular-season sweep of the Flames, falling in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-21. Midland drops to 8-8 on the year with a 7-7 record in the GPAC while CSM improves to 9-10 overall and 4-10 in the league.
At the GPAC Cross Country Championships, four warriors placed:
