FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today with Rich Ray:
Soccer
Midland University’s women’s soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit, pushing the contest against Concordia University to double overtime, but the teams settled for a 2-2 tie in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. Tonight’s double-overtime game is Midland’s third in their last five contests.
Midland moves to 3-3-3 on the year with an identical mark in GPAC action while Concordia sits at 7-3-2 overall and 7-2-2 in the league. The team (3-3-3) returns to action on Saturday as the team heads to the College of Saint Mary for a 1:00 p.m. game. CSM sits at 3-6-1 on the year.
Also on Wednesday night, the Midland Warriors men’s team faced the Concordia University Bulldogs and were narrowly defeated in a defensive showdown, 1-0. Similar to their matchups the last few seasons, the Warriors and Bulldogs very physical and the mood was tense all night, there would be two yellow cards given out along with a total of 17 fouls on the night.
The Warriors (5-3, 5-3) will take the pitch again on November 11 at home against Briar Cliff University (8-0, 6-0). The GPAC matchup is set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
