Huskers-Wisconsin Game Canceled; UW Program Out with COVID

MADISON, WI — Wisconsin has canceled its scheduled game at Nebraska on Saturday.
The game will go down as a “no contest,” rather than a forfeit. According to Big Ten protocol, Wisconsin must pause all team activities for at least seven days. After a dozen people within the program, including coach Paul Chryst, have tested positive for COVID-19, the program officially exceeds the Big Ten’s 5% team positivity limit and must suspend activities and competition.
School officials for UW said athletic director Barry Alvarez and chancellor Rebecca Blank made the decision in consultation with Big Ten officials.
The game with Nebraska won’t be rescheduled. The Huskers will next play at Northwestern on Saturday, 11/7.
