GPAC Announces Weekly Football Honors; Acamo and Tremayne Honored Again

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced this week’s football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Midland University’s Dalton Tremayne and Zach Acamo were recognized along with Shane Solberg of Northwestern College.
Tremayne, a junior from Ponca, Nebraska, earned his third consecutive GPAC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honor after a great game this week. He took the opening kickoff on all the way back for an 87-yard touchdown as Midland defeated Dakota Wesleyan, 50-14, on the road. Each time he was back to receive the Tigers’ punt, they elected to kick the ball towards the sideline away from him. On offense, he had a pair of catches for 56 yards, including a long of 42.
Acamo, a senior from Bellevue, Nebraska, earned his second GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor in as many weeks. He led the Warriors in tackles with 14 (10 solo) on Saturday. In addition, he also had a pick-six as he intercepted a Tigers’ pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 37 yards for the touchdown.
Solberg, a senior from Bolden, Iowa, had a near-record day for Raiders as he caught 11 passes for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Northwestern defeated Concordia 31-17 at home.
This week, Midland (3-2) will host Jamestown (0-3) on Saturday afternoon in Fremont, Nebraska. Kickoff between the Warriors and Jimmies is set for 1:00 p.m. at Heedum Field.
