SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced their weekly football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Zach Acamo and Dalton Tremayne of Midland University were joined by Noah Clayberg of Dordt University in garnering recognition at the conference level.
Acamo, a senior linebacker from Bellevue, Nebraska, was named the GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week. He led the Warriors with nine tackles as they retained the Watchorn-McLaughlin Trophy for the fifth straight year with a 43-0 win over Hastings. He also had a fumble recovery that ended a promising Hastings drive, preserving the shutout on homecoming.
Tremayne, a junior from Ponca, Nebraska was named the GPAC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for the second straight week. He had another big day on special teams averaging 15.8 yards per punt return and added one kickoff return for 23 yards. His play helped set up the Midland offensive with great field position all afternoon. In addition to his returns, he hauled in one pass on offense for 45 yards in the homecoming game on Saturday afternoon.
Clayberg, a junior from Pella, Iowa, was named the GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week. He set a Dordt program record for pass completion percentage in a game going 15-of-18 and added a career-high four touchdown passes. He also ran the ball for 108 yards on seven carries and added a rushing touchdown as well. Impressively, all his stats were compiled in the first half of Dordt’s 66-13 win over Jamestown.
