Local Sports Today with Rich Ray – October 6th

FREMONT – Here’s today’s look at local sports with Rich Ray:
The Fremont High girls golf team competed in District competition at Elks Country Club, in Columbus, yesterday.  The Tigers finished fifth, shooting a 415.  Lincoln Pius X was first at 336.  Omaha Westside was second at 359 and Papillion LaVista South was third at 361.  The Tigers were led by Alyssa Walters who finished 15th at 96.  Nicole Kolbas of Pius X was first at 72.
The Midland women’s golf team is in 12th place after day one of the GPAC Championships at Dakota Dunes Country Club.  Midland shot a 429.  Morningside leads the meet with a 316.  Olivia Engel leads the Warriors, tied for 33rd with a 98.  Sam Knight of Morningside is the first round leader after a 3-over 76.
In high school boys tennis, Fremont defeated 5-4, in Columbus.
In the B-2 Softball Sub-Districts in Blair, yesterday, Blair beat Platteview 12-2 and beat Omaha Mercy 12-0.  The Bears take on the Platteview/Mercy winner at 4:00, today.
