FREMONT – Here’s your daily look at local sports from around the area with Rich Ray:
The Fremont High softball team hosted Lincoln North Star in a Heartland Athletic Conference doubleheader at Chaplain Field, last night. In game one, the Tigers’ Tawnie Escamilla delivered a walk-off single with the bases loaded to give Fremont the 3-2 victory. In game two, the Gators hit two, two-run homeruns and beat Fremont 8-0 in six innings. North Star is 21-11 while Fremont is 16-17. Both teams play in the HAC Tournament in Kearney, tomorrow.
In other high school softball last night, Blair beat Bennington, 8-5.
The Bergan cross-country teams ran at the Lincoln Lutheran Invite at Pioneers Park, yesterday. The Lady Knights were led by Jadin Ostrand in 19:22. The Bergan boys finished tenth, led by Sam Sleister in 20:05.
