Fremont CROP Walk Scheduled for Sunday, October 4

FREMONT – The Fremont CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk, an annual event to raise money and awareness about the problem of the lack of food and clean water around the world, will be held this Sunday.
25% of the proceeds from the walk go to LifeHouse. Registration begins at 1 P.M. with the walk beginning at 1:30 P.M.  The CROP Walk will start and end at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, located at 16th and Nye. Registration will be set up outside the west end of the church.
Masks will be required while registering and waiting. When the walk begins, walkers are asked to maintain social distancing.  The 2 mile route goes west on 16th to Somers, south to Linden, then west to connect to the walking trail.
Refreshments after the walk are unfortunately not part of the plan this year due to COVID-19.
“We hope for a good turnout,” said CROP Walk Organizer Karen Carstensen, “But we’ll plan to walk regardless. Families are encouraged to come and are permitted to use wagons or strollers for young children. Dogs are also permitted, if owners clean up after them as necessary.” This year’s CROP Walk should have good weather and the mission is more important than ever. ” Donations are needed more than ever because of the economic disruption caused by the pandemic,” said Carstensen.
Red Thrivent T-shirts will be available for those who would like one. Anyone who would like more information can contact Karen Carstensen at 402-727-5250.
