Huskers “Fully Committed” to Big Ten; Won’t Pursue a Fall Season

LINCOLN -Despite a week or more of saber rattling from the Huskers’ coaching leadership, the team will not pursue the possibility of playing fall football outside of the Big Ten structure.
Yesterday, NU President Ted Carter and Chancellor Ronnie Green issued a statement, making clear that the University would remain in the Big Ten and abide by their season cancellation:

“The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a fully committed member of the Big Ten Conference,” the school said in a statement. “It is an unparalleled athletic and academic alliance.”
“We have the greatest fans in college athletics. This has been a difficult and disappointing week. We all look forward to the day where we can cheer on our student-athletes, on the field and in the arena.”

Speaking on Sports Nightly on Thursday night, AD Bill Moos agreed that it “wasn’t permissible” under the University’s current arrangement with the Big Ten to try to play outside the conference this fall. “We are proud members of the Big Ten,” Moos said. “We like the Big Ten. We’re going to compete in the Big Ten and be successful in the Big Ten.”
The Big Ten is planning for a football season in the Spring.
