Fremont had trailed the entire game until tying it in the eighth. But Casey Burnham led off the ninth with a home run to right off Tre Turner to give Hastings the lead for good. Then Conner Laux drew a walk, Ryan McDonald doubled and Grant Schmidt drew a walk to load the bases for Reece Anderson, who lined a single to right to score two. Hastings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. With one out, Laux singled to left, then moved to third when Tayten Tredeway doubled to left. Then with runners at second and third, a wild pitch allowed Laux to scored and moved Tredeway to third. McDonald grounded out to third to score Tredeway and give the Sodbusters a 2-0 lead. The Moo responded in the second. Brock Reller tripled to right, then scored on Jack Simonsen’s sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 2-1.

After a walk to Dillon Sears loaded the bases, Kanin Dodge blooped a two-run single to right to pull the Moo within two.
The rally continued in the eighth for Fremont.
