Legion Baseball: Five Points Bank Defeats FSB Seniors

Rich Ray contributed this report.
FREMONT – The First State Bank American Legion Seniors baseball team hosted Five Points Bank (Omaha Creighton Prep), Saturday afternoon at Novak Field.  Five Points defeated First State, 3-2.
After a PJ Loucks double and a single by Patrick Mooney, Loucks would score on a perfectly executed delayed steal to put Five Points up 1-0 in the second inning.  Five Points would add two more runs in the sixth with four consecutive one out hits, highlighted by a Mooney two-run double.  First State would send eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth, sparked by rbi singles from Dawson Glause and Carter Sintek, to make it a 3-2 ballgame.  However, First State could not manufacture anything versus Five Points’ Max Sanders, who recorded the save.  Will Volenec picked up the win for Five Points.  Sintek suffered the loss for First State.  Five Points’ Calen Protaskey went 2-for-3, as did Loucks and Mooney.  First State’s Glause went 2-for-4 and Sam Gifford was 2-for-2.
First State is 8-9 on the season and will host Gretna Tuesday night in game one of the best of five Fremont/Gretna series.  First pitch is 6:30pm and the game will be broadcast on Big Dog County 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.
The First State Bank juniors begin their best of five Fremont/Gretna series, tonight at Gretna.  First pitch is 6:30pm.
