New Hire Announcements for St. Patrick Catholic Church and Archbishop Bergan Catholic School

FREMONT- New teachers for the 2020-21 school year and re-organization of Parish & School Advancement Office Archbishop Bergan Catholic School recently filled two Fifth/Sixth grade and the High School English teaching positions upon the resignation of the previous instructors in those areas.
Anna Wiese has been hired as the Fifth and Sixth Grade Social Studies and Theology teacher. Anna is a recent graduate of Doane University with a degree in elementary education and an endorsement in Early Childhood education. Ms. Wiese is a life-long member of Saint Patrick Parish. Anna’s varied experiences in her practicums as well as her work as an after school care teacher at various elementary schools, including Bergan Elementary, have prepared her well for this position. Anna spent the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year as a student teacher in Mrs. Angie Kempf’s 4th-grade classroom at Bergan Elementary.
“It was very evident that Anna Wiese wanted to be a member of the faculty at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School for quite a while. Through working at the Early Childhood Education Center and her efforts student teaching at Bergan Elementary allowed us to know that we are getting a top-notch educator. Anna will Put a lot of determination into making sure she is doing what is best for our students,” said Principal, Dan Koenig.
Haley Kucera has been hired as the Fifth and Sixth Grade Language Arts and Theology instructor. Haley recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Midland University. While at Midland, Haley was active on the Dance Team. Ms. Kucera is also a life long member of Saint Patrick Parish. Haley is also a 2015 graduate of Archbishop Bergan High School. Haley has also served as an employee at the Bergan Early Childhood Education Center and as a long term substitute teacher at Bergan Elementary this past school year.
“We at Archbishop Bergan Catholic are excited to announce the hiring of Ms. Haley Kucera. It is always a special opportunity to hire an alumnus to come back and serve at Archbishop Bergan Catholic. Haley brings a proven work ethic, a positive personality, and the pedigree of being the daughter of an elementary teacher. Her passion for Bergan is evident and I know she will make a positive impact on her students for years to come,” Koenig said.
Archbishop Bergan Catholic High School has recently hired a High School Language Arts instructor after the resignation of the previous Language Arts Instructor this spring. Amalie Guldenpfennig has been hired as the High School Language Arts instructor. Amalie has an undergraduate degree from Creighton University. Mrs. Guldenpfennig recently served as a High School Language Arts instructor at Creighton Prep High School and Grundy Center, Iowa. She is in the process of pursuing a Master’s Degree in School Counseling and Mental Health from Creighton University. Amalie and her husband Gavin are Parishioners at Saint Patrick Parish and have four children with her oldest daughter Daernys enrolled as a Kindergartener at Bergan Elementary this coming school year.
“Amalie Guldenpfennig is a great hire for Archbishop Bergan Catholic High School. It was evident through the interview process that Bergan was a great fit for Mrs. Guldenpfennig. She holds the same guiding principles that make Bergan such a great place to educate our students. Amalie’s devotion to her Catholic faith and family values will serve her well as the High School Language Arts instructor at Bergan,” said Dan Koenig.
After a Parish and School Development Audit, the Archbishop Bergan Catholic School Advancement Office was merged with the St. Patrick Catholic Church Development office to create the Parish and School Advancement Office. Bonnie Nebuda will continue to serve as Director of Advancement and will see her duties adjusted to soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding of leadership gifts, as well as maintain day to day operations of the Advancement Office.
Sarah Monke will stay with the Advancement team part-time as Director of Communications. As a result of the restructuring from the audit, there was a recommendation to fill a full-time vacant position of Stewardship and Annual Funds, in addition to filling a part-time need for Admissions and Events.
Nichole Owsley, a 2000 Archbishop Bergan alumnae, has been hired as the Director of Stewardship and Annual Funds. Before joining the team at St. Patrick & Bergan, Nichole spent a short time starting an external affairs and member relations department at WholeStone Farms; prior to that in 2014, Nichole was the Director of External Affairs & Business Development at Midland University. In 2016, Nichole was promoted to Director of the Capital Campaign and helped raised over $27M for the University’s Capital Campaign. Nichole has a passion for uniting the community and serving the Fremont community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Fremont, Fremont Area Young professionals and had spent the past year on the Bergan School Board.
“I am excited to be back where it all started for me, Bergan and St. Patrick Parish has a special place in my heart and I am excited to be here,” said, Nichole Owsley.
“We at Bergan are lucky to have a professional the caliber of Nichole Owsley assisting us in accomplishing our mission. Her area of expertise and connections to the community are going to make a great impact on creating a culture of Stewardship for our Parish
& School,” said Dan Koenig.
Nichole and her husband Jason have two children, Lauren and Will that attend Archbishop Bergan Elementary.
Misti Wolf has been hired as the Director of Admissions and Events. Misti will be working part-time handling all of the duties for the recruitment, enrollment, and retaining of students. She also will be the staff point of contact in helping to organize the Parish and School’s largest event fundraisers the Knight Event, ShamRock Dinner & Parish Festival. Mrs. Wolf is no stranger to the Parish and School community as she has served as the Bergan School Board Vice President, on the Knight Event Committee, and as the Elementary Parent Knight (PTA) President in the past.
As a Registered Nurse, Misti has also volunteered her time to assisting Archbishop Bergan Catholic in the past when having a nurse on hand was necessary. Misti and her husband Tom have a 7th grader, Evan, and a 4th grader, Lauren who attend Archbishop Bergan Catholic.
“We are blessed to have Misti Wolf operating our Admissions program and developing events for the Parish and School. Misti’s passion for our school is evident in her past involvement along with her embracing the mission throughout all of her leadership efforts,” said Dan Koenig.
