Fremont United Way Asking For Help In Supplying Children With Books

FREMONT- The Fremont Area United Way (FAUW) is highly invested in improving literacy in the community. FAUW has seen all the facts proving that children with higher reading scores are more likely to succeed in school and life. They know that children living in at-risk households are more likely to fall behind, especially if they do not have books readily available.
The FAUW is the local funding sponsor for the DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARYThrough this program, approximately 1,100 Dodge County children from birth to 5 receive a FREE book MONTHLY in the mail. When books are made available for parents to regularly read to their children during these most impressionable years, children are more likely to meet developmental, social-emotional, and literacy milestones and be ready to learn in kindergarten.
As FAUW started to plan for its 10th annual “Hats Off to Literacy” luncheon to benefit its literacy initiatives the COVID-19 pandemic took effect. As FAUW navigates through this health and financial crisis, FAUW said it does not make sense to put its supporters at risk by holding a social event at this time. However, the program is still very important to the community and little ones NEED these books in their hands now more than ever.
The FAUW needs your HELPIt costs United Way $24,000 to provide this program in Dodge County. FAUW believes a great way to help provide is by sponsoring a child and/or children.
Child Sponsorships are at increments of $30. This is the approximate cost to provide 12 books to 1 child for 1 year.
