LINCOLN – The First State Bank American Legion seniors baseball team picked up its first win of the season, with a 14-2, five-inning victory over Lincoln High at Sherman Field last night.
After scoring three in the top of the first, Lincoln High would respond with two runs in the bottom half. However, it was all First State after that, scoring five in the third, one in the fourth and five more in the fifth. Camden McKenzie went 2-for-3 with four rbi’s. Sam Gifford was 2-for-3 with 3 runs batted in. Carter Sintek was 1-for-3 with 3 rbi’s. Sintek was also the winning pitcher, working 2.2 innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, while striking out two.
The First State Seniors are 1-1 on the season and host Millard West tonight at Novak Field at 7:30. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on Big Dog Country, 98.9 FM and 1340 AM, or stream online using our website or app.
The First State Juniors suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Lincoln High, 11-10. The Juniors return to action, tonight, hosting Lincoln Southwest, at Novak Field, at 5pm.
