HOUSTON 8 – Boston 2… Jose Altuve became just the ninth player to belt three homers in a postseason game and powered the Astros past the Red Sox in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Alex Bregman got it going for Houston with a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning. Marwin Gronzalez’ two-run double in the fourth broke a 2-2 tie. Brian McCann added a two-run single. Justin Verlander (1-0) allowed two runs on six hits over six innings.

GAME 2 TODAY AT HOUSTON… It will be a matchup of lefthanders when Boston’s Drew Pomeranz (17-6, 3.32 ERA) is matched with Dallas Keuchel (14-5, 2.90) in today’s Game 2 at Houston. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern and the game airs on FS1.

CLEVELAND 4 – N.Y. YANKEES 0… Trevor Bauer held the Yankees hitless over the first 5-1/3 innings in a dominant 6-2/3-inning effort and two relievers preserved the Indians’ Game 1 shutout win. Jay Bruce provided all the offense Cleveland needed with a two-run homer and sacrifice fly.

GAME 2 TODAY AT CLEVELAND… New York sends lefthander CC Sabathia (14-5, 3.69 ERA) to the mound tonight in Cleveland for Game 2, while the Indians counter with righthander Corey Kluber (18-4, 2.25 ERA). Gametime is 5 p.m. Eastern and the game airs on MLB network.



The Eastern Division-champion Washington Nationals host the Central Division-champion Chicago Cubs today to open the National League Division Series. Stephen Strasburg (15-4, 2.52 ERA) gets the start for the Nationals and will be opposed by fellow righthander Kyle Hendricks (7-5, 3.03 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern. In the later game, the wild-card Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Western Division-champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Righthander Taijuan Walker (9-9, 3.49) gets the start for the Diamondbacks and will be going up against the Dodgers’ ace, lefthander Clayton Kershaw (18-4, 2.31 ERA). Gametime scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Eastern. Both NLDS games air on TBS.
