Georgean Sabina (Eaton) Weddle, 82, of Fremont passed away after a long battle with dementia at Dunklau Gardens on November 17, 2025. She was born on June 20, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the only child of George Raymond Eaton and Sabina Cecelia (Hollinger) Eaton.
Georgean graduated from Fremont High School with the Class of 1961 and later attended college. She worked at Bahnert’s and eventually did hair at Alberta’s. After marrying the love of her life, Dan Weddle, she became a homemaker. Later in life, she worked as a substitute at Davenport School, serving as both a paraprofessional and a secretary.
On July 28, 1973, Georgen married Dan Weddle, with whom she shared a devoted and joy-filled life.
She was a lifelong member of Presbyterian Church, Class of 1961 Reunion Committee, and a former branch of the Optimists called Opti Mrs.
Georgean loved being with people. She never met a stranger and cherished conversations with people of all ages, always accompanied by her warm smile. She was forever ready to go somewhere new and exciting—malls, concerts, craft shows, restaurants, and adventures of all kinds. Her travels took her to Alaska, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, and more. Among her favorite destinations were Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park.
She adored her home and community. Georgen hosted family gatherings and welcomed friends for football parties, holidays, and celebrations. Spending time with her kids and classmates brought her joy. She enjoyed community activities, parades, and weekend drives with her husband to look at houses and farmland. She treasured life’s simple pleasures—folding towels straight from the dryer, sitting on her deck on a nice day, watching “The Price Is Right” and adored her dogs. As her children fondly remember, “Mom said she would listen to rock ’n’ roll and wear jeans even when she was old,” and she did.
Georgean’s kindness, humor, curiosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her children: Terrie (Mike) Rabe, Jolynn (Frank) Joutras, Jon Weddle, and Ann (Pat) Peterson. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Adrianne, Zach, Sam, and Reace (Elizabeth).
Georgean was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her parents, eight dogs, and two cats.
