FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University has announced the completion of major facility upgrades at Heedum Field that took place over the summer. Highlighted by the installation of a new synthetic turf playing surface and a new track surface, the project is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience and providing top-notch facilities for competition and training.

The new turf features improved durability, player safety enhancements, and a modern design to showcase the Midland University brand. The track surrounding the field received a full resurfacing, providing a top-quality surface for the university’s track and field programs.

“This is an exciting investment in the future of Midland Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Courtney Thomsen. “Heedum Field is home to many of our teams for practice and competition. These upgrades will not only benefit our student-athletes but also create a better experience for our fans and visitors. We are especially grateful that this project was fully donor-funded, and we deeply appreciate the support that has allowed us to move it forward.”

Heedum Field serves as the home venue for Midland’s football, soccer, lacrosse, flag football, and track and field programs.

“This project reflects Midland’s continued focus on giving our athletes the tools they need to succeed while also maintaining a facility that our alumni, fans, and community can be proud of,” Thomsen added.

Fans can get their first look at the new Heedum Field turf this fall during home football and soccer contests.
