The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a teenager who went missing after wading into the Platte River south of Fremont.

The DCSO received a call at about 9 Sunday night that a 17-year-old had gone missing. The boy was last seen in the area west of the U.S. Highway 77 bridge.

Authorities said multiple resources were coordinated for a water rescue, including Waterloo Water Rescue, Valley Water Rescue, Fremont Fire Department Dive Team, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, Omaha Police ABLE-1 helicopter, Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Rural Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County drone team. Law Enforcement air boats, boats and drones were launched on the river within 15 minutes of the initial call.

The initial search was unsuccessful in locating the boy. At about 11:45 p.m., it was determined by officials that the search would cease for the night. The search resumed early Monday morning.

DCSO reminds the public to not stop their vehicles on the Platte River Bridge. If individuals have any information, please contact  402-727-2700. The investigation is ongoing
