No one was injured during a morning fire today at 709 N. Broad Street — across from Dick’s Zesto.
Fremont Fire Chief Todd Bernt said crews were already in the vicinity for a call at Care Corps’ LifeHouse when they noticed smoke at about 9:45 a.m.
“Our guys saw (the fire) right away,” he said. “They called for the other on-duty guys to respond. When we showed up, we had heavy smoke coming from the roof.”
Heladeria Reinita Ice Cream Shop and apartments are at the location.
“We originally had reports of people being inside in the apartments,” Bernt said. “However, we confirmed no one was inside and all the pets were out.”
The fire was contained by about 11 a.m. FFD continued checking for hot spots to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.
