Patricia Louise Diers, 89 years, of Fremont passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 24, 2026, in hospice care at Dunklau Gardens.
Pat was born October 15, 1936, in Fremont to Enlowe A. and Hazel F. (Stark) Hevner. She was crowned Homecoming queen during her senior year and graduated from Fremont High School in 1954. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, in 1956 and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1958 where she studied medical technology and joined the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Pat married her high school sweetheart, Robert D. (Bob) Diers, on September 28, 1958. They made their home in Fremont and had three children: Katherine, Kirk and Karen. During their nearly 68-year union they treasured travels and adventures with family and lifelong friends, and summer trips to Estes Park, Colorado.
Pat enjoyed playing bridge, golf and tennis, hiking, reading, needlework and caring for her beautiful flower gardens. She was a member of PEO Chapter Ex, Priscilla Flower Mission, and the First Congregational Church.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love for family and friends through cooking and baking. She was especially known for her delicious pies, homemade peach pear jam, and her famous golden cream candy, which quickly became a favorite at the annual church bazaar, often selling out long before the day was over.
A devoted sports fan, Pat enjoyed following the PGA, supporting Nebraska sports, and cheering on MLB teams — especially her favorite, the Chicago Cubs. She was known for calling to remind everyone when a game or tournament was about to begin, ensuring they were all tuned in and cheering together.
An avid birdwatcher and lover of flowers, Pat delighted in sharing her knowledge with her children and grandchildren, teaching them to recognize different birds, flowers, and the wonders of nature. Through her curiosity and enthusiasm, she inspired those she loved to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the beauty all around them.
Pat is survived by husband, Bob of Fremont; children, Katherine Diers (Allen Jones) of Snowmass, Colorado, Kirk (Melissa) Diers of Fremont, and Karen (Loren) Haas of Omaha; three grandchildren Faith Haas and Alexander and Emma Diers; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Enlowe “Lefty” Jr., brother- and sister-in-law, Tracy and Marilyn Diers, sister-in-law, Linda Diers, and parents-in-law, Eugene and Marie (Tracy) Diers.
Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Area Community Foundation and Fremont Area Art Association. In keeping with Pat’s wishes, a private service for family and close friends will be held this fall.
