An incident involving two minors and a stolen vehicle Thursday morning remains under investigation.

At about 6:15 a.m., a Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a white 2019 Ford F150 traveling with no
headlights illuminated westbound on 23rd Street in Fremont.

The deputy activated the overhead emergency lights on the patrol unit in order to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield and began fleeing from the deputy westbound on 23rd Street. While continuing to elude law enforcement, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed at Military Avenue and County Road 18.

The driver and a passenger fled on foot from the vehicle. The 15-year-old driver was apprehended immediately while the 14-year-old passenger proceeded to run from the scene of the crash. The driver was taken to Methodist Fremont Health. The vehicle involved was determined to be stolen from Hooper during the overnight hours. The passenger was later apprehended.

The names of the juveniles involved will not be released.

The DCSO was assisted by Nebraska State Patrol, Fremont Fire and Rescue, Fremont Police Department, Nebraska Game and Parks (Law Enforcement and Parks Divisions) as well as vigilant residents in area of Lake Ventura.
