A Fremont man was sentenced Tuesday for a 2023 rollover accident that resulted in another man’s death.
Bradley R. Drews, 39, entered a plea of no contest to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of motor vehicle homicide for the accident that claimed the life of Kyle T. Shipman, 37, also of Fremont.
Drews was ordered by Colfax County Judge Andrew R. Lange to serve 48 hours in the Colfax County jail starting on Dec. 31, which is Shipman’s birthday. Drews will also be on probation for a year and will be required to undergo testing for illegal drugs. He was also assessed $450 in fees.
The two men were working in rural Colfax County when the July 31 accident occurred. Investigators said no illegal drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident. Drews showed no signs of impairment.
Investigators said Drews was driving a pickup when he lost control on a gravel road. Shipman, his passenger, was ejected. He later died at a hospital.
