Lincoln Premium Poultry Chief Operations Officer Walt Shafer was recently inducted into the Nebraska Poultry Hall of Fame.

Shafer helped start LPP for Costco and has been driving force behind the company’s success.

Jessica Kolterman of LPP said officials at the plant nominated Shafer for the honor.

“What was really special was that when I asked people to write letters of support, just how many did that,” she said. “We had 20-plus letters and they were signed by 40 people. That was great because it showed how many people he has touched with his involvement in the community, the facility and across the industry.”

When he was presented the honor, Kolterman said he accepted it on behalf of the LPP team.

“You wouldn’t expect anything less of him,” she said. “He is very humble.”
