FHS girls finish 2nd, boys 4th at Concordia meet

The Fremont High School girls finished second Saturday in the River Division of the Bulldog Track & Field Challenge at Concordia University in Seward. 

 

The Tigers finished as the runner-up to Lincoln Southwest. The Silver Hawks scored 171 points while the Tigers tallied 86. Columbus was third with 66 in the five-team division. 

 

In the boys division, Southwest won the team title with 137 points while Columbus was the runner-up with 81. Fremont placed fourth with 63 points – four behind Lincoln Southeast. 

 

Junior Tayler Evans was a double-event winner for the girls. She cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault while teammate Cheyenne Smith was fourth (31-6). Evans’ mark of 33-5 ¾ was tops in the triple jump. 

 

Sydney Glause of FHS won the 400 meters in 1:01.21 while teammate Emmalee Sheppard was fifth in 1:04.02. 

 

Glause also earned a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (26.55). 

 

The Tigers also earned a championship in the 1,600 meters. Junior Chloe Hemmer won the race in 5:29.31 with teammate Johanna Macias sixth in 5:58.81. 

 

Senior Ella Cooper and Sheppard finished 3-4 in the long jump. Cooper led the way with a leap of 15-7 ½ while Sheppard was next at 15-6 ¾. 

 

FHS also placed fourth in the 1,600-meter relay. Freshmen Jenna Ellsworth, McKinzie Brandt and Elena Estudillo joined Sheppard to  run a 4:34.64. 

 

In the 60-meter hurdles, Maddi Grosse placed fifth (11:18) followed by Morgan Brahmer (12.31). 

 

Juan Gonzalez and Michael Dalton earned titles for the boys. 

 

Dalton cleared 12-0 for first in the pole vault while teammate James Fittje was fifth at 9-0. Gonzalez raced to a top finish in the 800 meters (2:00.07). 

 

 

In the 3,200 meters Will Schulz (10:18.51) and Noah Miller (10:18.52) finished 2-3. Schulz and Gonzalez joined Caleb Sund and Coulter Fritz on the 1,600-meter relay team that placed fifth in 3:46.39. 

 

Junior Wes Pleskac was second in the 1,600 meters in 4:46.48 while Caleb Sund was fourth in 4:51.66. 

 

Wyatt Kurzenberger placed third in the shot put (47-0 ¼) while teammate Noah Sagehorn was fourth in the high jump (5-6).
