Omaha Steaks announced today it is transitioning its Snyder production facility operations to two facilities in Omaha.

Team members at the Snyder facility have been offered transfers to one of the company’s Omaha facilities or, alternatively, been offered a severance package based on years of service, plus an additional 60 days pay and benefits.

In a press release, Omaha Steaks President & Chief Operating Officer Nate Rempe said it wasn’t a flippant decision.

“The transition from Snyder to Omaha-based operations positions the company to make more investments in fewer facilities and to more rapidly grow our capacity,” he said. “We did not make the decision lightly. We know it will impact our Snyder team members and the local community.”

Rempe said the company is grateful for all of the hard work of the Snyder employees.

“We sincerely appreciate the Snyder team members and value their contributions to the company over the years,” he said. “All Snyder team members have been offered transfers to one of our Omaha facilities and we are working closely with each individual to support their employment transfer within the company or to other local businesses.”
