MCPHERSON, Kan. – Saturday morning saw (RV) Midland University take the turf at Bulldog Park to face Evangel University to begin the final day of the McPherson College Classic. The Warriors and Valor battled through wintery conditions with Midland edging Evangel, 2-1.

The Warriors pushed across a run in the 1st as Roni Foote drove in Emily Prai with a single down the line in right field. Prai had led off the inning with a single through the left side and then advanced to second with a groundout.

In the 2nd, Prai bunted down the third-base line and Ariyana Crafton came home as the Valor attempted to get the third out at first. Crafton came on to pitch-run for Mia Orduna who earned a one-out walk.

Evangel got one run back in the 5th as they worked a one-out walk and then scored on a single to the outfield. Their comeback attempt ended with a fielder’s choice and a foul ball caught by Amanda Schmaderer behind the plate.

Midland held the Valor in check in the 6th and then threatened to expand its lead but left the bases loaded. In the 7th, MU set Evangel down in order to preserve the 2-1 victory.
