There were no injuries during an apartment fire Sunday in Fremont.

Lt. Rick Schutt of the Fremont Fire Department said a call came in at 2 Sunday afternoon about smoke coming from an apartment complex roof at 239 E. Second Street.

“Upon arrival we determined we did have a working structure fire,” he said. “We had smoke coming from the soffits of a roof on one side of the apartment complex. It appeared to be isolated in the attic.”

Schutt said crews conducted a quick primary search of the residence.

“We were able to get all of the tenants out of the building,” he said. “There were some animals we were able to get out as well.”

The lieutenant said the fire was under control in about 15 minutes.

“The fire was contained to the attic space of the apartment complex,” he said.

Schutt said four families were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was on the scene to help them with their needs, including lodging.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The dollar amount for damages is undetermined at this time.
