As of Wednesday, there will be a vacant seat on the Fremont City Council for Ward 1
The vacancy was created on Dec. 27 when councilman Vern Gibson announced his resignation due to health issues.
The council is expected to accept Gibson’s resignation at tonight’s regular meeting and “provide a notice of vacancy.”
Interested, registered voters in Ward 1 are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and resume, in person, to the City Clerk on the second floor of the Fremont Municipal Building. The submission deadline is Jan. 25.
At the council meeting on Jan. 31, Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg will submit the name of a qualified candidate to fill the balance of Gibson’s unexpired term. The council will then vote to confirm the appointment.
