A jury has convicted a former Fremont police officer of sexually assaulting a child.
Austin R. Williams, 37, was convicted on Wednesday in Douglas County District Court on three felonies, including first-degree sexual assault of a child.
Williams had been with the department for five years when he was terminated in February of 2019.
The Nebraska State Patrol began investigating Williams in 2018 after an advocacy center notified it of a potential assault, according to court records. The victim alleged the abuse started in 2016 and continued into the summer of 2018.
In January of 2021, Williams was sentenced in Dodge County District Court to 30 months in prison for third-degree assault of a child.
